Nine Fold script is a special font, which always used in imperial jade seal popularized from Song Dynasty, especially, for emperor use. In Khitan, they always use this type in coins. About the inspiration of this series of alphabets, I considered not just Khitan coins and some emperors’ seals, but papercut, polygon splicing, stencil, and maze. What’s the most essential is that Khitan script contains two shapes of words, big and small characters, so I designed traditional and simple letters based on this specific grammar. Meanwhile, I compared Nine Fold words with Chinese regular script to show the characteristic.
